This piece was made from stoneware
clay. I pressed slabs of clay onto
tombstones to get their impression and
then I hand build the vessel by shaping
each flat slab into shape and joined
together with a rutile colored slip. It
was painted with a wash of
manganese, glazed with a clear glaze
and fired to cone 6 oxidation.
